I am a human being trying to understand the mysterious world around me. I am sensitive to light, responsive to movement, and carry a camera. I muse on the words of Carl Sagan and dream of Carl Jung. Experience is something I crave, so I have traveled, and I have stayed at home.

I use art to investigate the human experience. To that end it serves as a tool for synthesizing the symbolism I identify with in myth and the patterns I recognize in our historical relationship with technology. I use trompe l'oeil and surrealist motifs to explore the connection between what we perceive, what we see, and what we know. As the information age generates image saturation, I strive to make images that spark curiosity, discourse, and experience. My goal is to encourage my audience to see in a novel way by showing them ordinary subjects in an extraordinary way.

For my portfolio, I’ve elected to show my work concentrated in photography. These images are of personal, cerebral, and meditative moments I created with elements of installation and performance over the course of three years. Conceptually, my portfolio represents my perceptions of landscape, myth, and quantum physics. While I was taking these images, I felt like I was conducting visual experiments that momentarily opened up other areas of consciousness. It felt meaningful, and like everything around me was alive. All I had to do was take the picture. I took most of these pictures with a 35mm, relying on its self-timer function to capture my performances. All images are taken in camera without any photo manipulation.
